Addiction
Often addiction begins as something fun or a way to deal with life’s challenges. Over time addiction takes hold, transforming from the solution to the problem. Before we know it, addiction threatens the things that we care about; our family, work, and self-identity, and we begin to hurt those most important to us.
When in the strangles of addiction, we can feel stuck and out of control. It is normal to ask ourselves how we got this far gone. We recognize what we are doing is hurting ourselves and others - but why can’t we stop? Despite what addiction takes from us, we can feel powerless to stop. Addiction leaves us feeling unmotivated or disconnected from what was once meaningful. It turns joys into a chore, and excitement into anxiety. We become unrecognizable to ourselves and the people that love us.
Imagine waking up and jumping out of bed feeling excited to take on the day. To feel capable to deal with what the day has in store. To sleep soundly. To feel clear-minded without the consuming thoughts of when or how you will use next. To like what we see in the mirror. To feel deserving of family and good things coming our way. To regain a sense of purpose and meaning in the work we do. A life where silence isn’t filled with the guilt and shame of what we have done. We all deserve to feel peace and simplicity, a life where we can be patient and kind.
